We are incredibly proud and excited to welcome Dave Weckl as a special guest at this year’s drum camp. Get up close and learn from a true icon of modern drumming — an artist whose career spans decades and genres, from jazz and fusion to pop and beyond. Dave Weckl is universally recognized for his extraordinary touch, deep groove, musical sensitivity, technical brilliance, and unmistakable sound. His influence on contemporary drumming is immeasurable. In addition to his iconic sideman work, with Chick Corea, Michael Brecker, Michel Camilo, Mike Stern, and Simon & Garfunkel, Dave has built an outstanding career as a solo artist and bandleader. Beyond the stage, Dave has been one of the most influential educators in the drumming world. His educational materials have inspired and guided generations of drummers and have become standard references worldwide. In addition, his signature gear has set benchmarks in drum and cymbal design, reflecting his constant pursuit of sound, feel, and musical excellence. Most recently, he has expanded this legacy with his own online drum school, making his experience and knowledge accessible to drummers around the globe. Dave Weckl is the definition of a master of his craft — a musician who continues to evolve, inspire, and elevate everyone around him.

Known for his exceptional groove, impeccable timing, and rich sound, he has won the Modern Drummer Magazine Readers’ Poll multiple times in the Educator and Clinician categories. With The Language of Drumming, he developed a groundbreaking system to help drummers expand their rhythmic vocabulary, repertoire, and independence. His follow-up, The Art and Science of Groove, is one of the most comprehensive collections of exercises and techniques for mastering timekeeping, subdivision, and flow. His book Effective Practicing for Musicians serves as a step-by-step guide for improving on any musical instrument. Beyond his contributions as an educator, Benny is an award-winning bandleader, composer, and author. Recently, he was invited by Cathy Rich to be the special guest drummer for the Buddy Rich Big Band for two consecutive years.Â
